Over the past couple of years, we've made some updates to add support for new releases of Family Tree Maker ("Version 2014") and Legacy ("Version 8"). These updates were posted to the website, but not added into the update system such that GenSmarts itself would prompt you to update. Since not all GenSmarts users use these versions of FTM and Legacy, it didn't seem to make sense to put out a general update for everyone - e.g. why prompt everyone to update because some feature was added that affects relatively few. However, it's been a couple of years at this point, and there's been a few other minor tweaks and bug fixes, so it seemed to make sense to go ahead and this point and trip a general update. Additionally, there are a couple of larger general interest enhancements coming in the next month or two, so it makes sense to establish a base version for those updates.

If GenSmarts itself doesn't prompt you, you can always get the latest "recommended/stable" version at this link:

http://www.GenSmarts.com/download/GenSmartsSetup.exe

Once downloaded, with GenSmarts closed, you can simply install "over the top" of what you have.

FYI - the exception to the above would be if you have a "special edition" of GenSmarts. See this post if you think you might have one of these special editions.
