The latest version of AQ has just been released. The current version of GenSmarts won't read the AQ files correctly.

Is an update in the pipeline?

AQ12 has moved to Unicode, which GenSmarts doesn't support, and isn't likely to support anytime this year. It's possible we may be able to "down convert" the AQ12 unicode, but we're still looking at it. I'll update this thread in a week or so when we know more.

We successfully tested with AQ12 this morning, so should have an update out next week that adds support for AQ12. It won't handle Unicode characters, though that should be a minor impact to existing AQ users. We have a similar non-Unicode issue with PAF and Family Tree Maker and that's proven to be a quite satisfactory arrangement. I'll update again when it's posted.

The version we're working on that adds support for Microsoft Vista, also now has the changes for Ancestral Quest Version 12. It's GenSmarts version 1.0.9.34 or higher, and (for now) you'll find it here:

http://www.GenSmarts.com/vista.html

This version does not require vista - it should work fine with earlier versions of windows.

Drop us a note at support@gensmarts.com if you try it with AQ12 and let us know how it works for you.
