They have a collection of online Virginia records that can be searched via their website. The most popular one is probably the death records index, over 46,000 entries from 1853-1896 which (can, depending on the county) include age, place of birth, place of death, cause of death, relatives, etc. They also have scans of military records, land records, family bibles, etc and other types of records.

The basic search is at http://ajax.lva.lib.va.us/F

If you click "Images, Indexes, etc." in the upper right, you can choose which database to search.
