Much of my research is in Virginia, where the cities are independent of the counties. I denote this in TMG by specifying the county names at "Independent City", but GenSmarts does not like this in the Data Cleanup tab. Is it possible for you to update your place database so that Independent City is a valid county name, or can you tell me how I can customize my geography database to work with this notation?

You can add a county called "Independent City" to any state using TOOLS...CUSTOMIZE GEOGRAPHY...
